Views From Above

Views From Above: A series of tapestries

Rug

With my concentration being fiber arts I create artwork by weaving, felting, sewing, and dying.  My most recent artwork consists of abstract tapestries from a series titled: Views from Above

These tapestries are a reflection of what one might see from an aerial view of the Earth.  The patterns, techniques and color palette give the viewer a different perspective of a landscape.  One that is not meant to be a realistic representation, but rather a train of thought that allows the viewer to apply their own experiences and ideas.

TOMS: Day Without Shoes, so kids don't have to

This Tuesday, April 5th consider walking and living out your day without shoes.  Shoes are such a luxury that I don't appreciate enough.  Visit TOMS website and check out the cause and the shoes that you can purchase.  When you purchase a pair of TOMS they give a pair of shoes to a child without any shoes.

It is an amazing effort.  So spread that word!!  And even if you can't go a day without shoes try half a day...or maybe where a pair of TOMS or encourage others who can go a day without shoes to do so.

I will be going a Day Without Shoes so kids don't have to.

Featured Artist

The Daily Fiber Intake show is still up at the Somethings Looming Gallery in Reading, PA.  If you are not able to visit the show the gallery has been kind enough to feature an artist a day on their  BLOG.  That way you can visit the gallery and enjoy the artwork from the comfort of your home or office.

They featured my artwork a few weeks ago.  My Sunrays weaving fit perfectly in their gallery space.  Mostly because they have very tall ceilings and my weaving is 10 feet long.  Click here to visit my featured artist page on their blog.

A Beautiful Weekend

We could not have asked for a better weekend.  The weather was perfect and the craft show was a great success!  I met some amazing artists, alpaca farm owners, and fellow weavers and textiles artists.  I hope to be a part of the art show next year.  And if you have yet to travel to Adamstown, PA to visit Stoudtburg Village please pick a weekend and you won't regret it.  Tons of antiques, vintage collectibles, jewelry, yarn, and delicious food.
