<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"> With my concentration being fiber arts I create artwork by weaving, felting, sewing, and dying. My most recent artwork consists of abstract tapestries from a series titled: <i>Views from Above</i>. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"> These tapestries are a reflection of what one might see from an aerial view of the Earth. The patterns, techniques and color palette give the viewer a different perspective of a landscape. One that is not meant to be a realistic representation, but rather a train of thought that allows the viewer to apply their own experiences and ideas. </span><br />

Shoes are such a luxury that I don't appreciate enough. Visit TOMS website and check out the cause and the shoes that you can purchase. When you purchase a pair of TOMS they give a pair of shoes to a child without any shoes. <br />
<br />
It is an amazing effort. So spread that word!! And even if you can't go a day without shoes try half a day...or maybe where a pair of TOMS or encourage others who can go a day without shoes to do so.<br />
<br />
I will be going a Day Without Shoes so kids don't have to.Elizabeth Germannhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14185379016836643903noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5807123008212774429.post-32129871395624828752011-03-30T14:38:00.000-04:002011-03-30T14:38:33.937-04:00Featured Artist<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixYOAOfMWCZ1Med6BYB5-kmh6HGPPxgUfwm-r_pi-AsqDyyk1R_3FrQZqxnA8Fhmh1MFJmuv2JLCwZEdG_UYc3fXbPc1F197877tGsIJJc42coYdCEQszHuYkFCPu5kRnJI1xbYuKyee0/s1600/ElizabethGermann_Sunrays1-72.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixYOAOfMWCZ1Med6BYB5-kmh6HGPPxgUfwm-r_pi-AsqDyyk1R_3FrQZqxnA8Fhmh1MFJmuv2JLCwZEdG_UYc3fXbPc1F197877tGsIJJc42coYdCEQszHuYkFCPu5kRnJI1xbYuKyee0/s400/ElizabethGermann_Sunrays1-72.jpg" width="208" /></a></div><br />

<br />
<span><span style="background-color: white;"><span style="color: #444444;"><span style="color: black;">If you have never heard of Peters Valley Craft Center before I encourage you to visit their <a href="http://www.petersvalley.org/">website</a>. The craft center is located in a beautiful area of the Delaware Valley Water Gap in Layon, NJ. I have taken many Fiber Workshops there including a woven and felting workshop with <a href="http://loretta-fiber.com/loretta-fiber.com/Home.html">Loretta Oliver</a>. Taking these classes at PV gave me inspiration and an opportunity to learn new and different art techniques with other artists from all over the country and the world. Last summer I was given the opportunity to be a studio assistant for all the Weaving and Sculptural Fibers Workshops. I learned so much that summer! It was truly a blessing to spend my summer with amazing artists, creative friends, and passionate instructors. </span></span><b style="color: #444444;"><span style="color: black;"> </span></b></span></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span><span style="background-color: white;"><b style="color: #444444;"><span style="color: black;"> </span></b></span></span><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYt2jK-V5MLMQ7ZEu_n-NTxHYQ4D6vBezgN2sdtJZDFqJIRTieE9OR9Qy9jFwk0vHxljxA7URCAscuRmu1xW3de0mByFtiiqox27vJyUBMoryjUcq4V8Hz4LqeyxEK-zq7hGdOsOBCYhs/s1600/101_7061.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYt2jK-V5MLMQ7ZEu_n-NTxHYQ4D6vBezgN2sdtJZDFqJIRTieE9OR9Qy9jFwk0vHxljxA7URCAscuRmu1xW3de0mByFtiiqox27vJyUBMoryjUcq4V8Hz4LqeyxEK-zq7hGdOsOBCYhs/s320/101_7061.JPG" /></a></div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhOio1vxmTEkpfkJ3jaudsg2MdK-RaAF_OXp99533C43jhmeoPa6Vx-zTU415LwU-CYkmKOamHVCqdoX_FdM8XtoJuCkr5Is_Bi0MYhCNNwv4a2FTHxwHYYhL4Emsd2AQFNQlFdIKMOhfI/s1600/photoPV_blog.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhOio1vxmTEkpfkJ3jaudsg2MdK-RaAF_OXp99533C43jhmeoPa6Vx-zTU415LwU-CYkmKOamHVCqdoX_FdM8XtoJuCkr5Is_Bi0MYhCNNwv4a2FTHxwHYYhL4Emsd2AQFNQlFdIKMOhfI/s320/photoPV_blog.jpg" /></a><span><span style="background-color: white;"><span style="color: #444444;"><span style="color: black;"> With the nature that surrounds you in the Valley it is hard to not be relaxed and inspired. I woke up every morning and saw this view out my window! ( Not to mention the cute black bears I saw during my adventures hiking and swimming in the Delaware River. )</span></span></span></span><br />
<br />
<span><span style="background-color: white;"><b style="color: #444444;"><span style="color: black;"> </span></b><span style="color: #444444;"><span style="color: black;"> </span></span></span></span><br />
<br />
<span><span style="background-color: white;"><span style="color: #444444;"><span style="color: black;">Each week in the summer there is a different workshop and instructor in each studio. There are 8 studios at PV: Blacksmithing, Ceramics, Weaving and Structural Fibers, Surface Design Textiles, Fine Metals, Woodworking, Photography (digital and B&W), and Special Topics (painting, glass blowing, cake decorating...). So each week there was a new group of people taking all different types of workshops and with them comes a new team of extremely talented instructors from all over the country and world. I had so much fun talking and spending time with everyone that I met there. Everyone had a different story to tell and experience to share which makes Peters Valley a truly special place to learn, teach, and be creative. </span></span></span></span><br />
<span><span style="background-color: white;"><b style="color: #444444;"><span style="color: black;"> </span></b></span></span><br />

This was one of the many favorite workshops from that summer. So much color, texture, and fun techniques to learn and experiment with I never wanted this workshop to end. </span></span><br />
<span><span style="background-color: white;"><br />
</span></span><br />
<span><span style="background-color: white;">My summer at Peters Valley has had a lot of influence on my artwork. I learned so many new techniques within my medium and countless others that I now have more confidence to try new and adventurous ideas. </span></span><br />
<span><span style="background-color: white;"> </span></span><br />
<span><span style="background-color: white;">I hope to continue to take workshops at Peters Valley and other Craft Centers to continue to learn new techniques and share creative experiences with wonderful and talented artists. </span></span>Elizabeth Germannhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14185379016836643903noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5807123008212774429.post-76848862660851340112010-04-17T01:07:00.001-04:002010-04-17T01:12:55.054-04:00New York City Trip!!<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjmmhRKtTeFWmLG_p29EhGeRX3DcPVXN-gGdqfBZSIcoDbvhv8P8LHbqmCy7bzN46wRSj-mNc9ioE1EeBTWTFv8MEdJqBey2tN8e_DLXKEKZu1_7jXeDMXd69vw0qrvMTHUUSpbYj_mE4/s1600/LUCKYWALNUT+stickers.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 252px; height: 83px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjmmhRKtTeFWmLG_p29EhGeRX3DcPVXN-gGdqfBZSIcoDbvhv8P8LHbqmCy7bzN46wRSj-mNc9ioE1EeBTWTFv8MEdJqBey2tN8e_DLXKEKZu1_7jXeDMXd69vw0qrvMTHUUSpbYj_mE4/s320/LUCKYWALNUT+stickers.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5460969174760359394" /></a><br /><br />A trip to New York City with some sporadic advertising!
